Manchester United teen Brandon Williams left his dad in a state if disbelief and asking ‘are you taking the p***?’ after surprising him with a new Mercedes for his birthday.
In brilliant footage posted on social media, Williams Snr admitted ‘I’ve gone all shaky’ as his footballer son handed over the keys to his shiny new 4×4.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a terrific breakthrough season in a United shirt, making his senior debut in the Carabao Cup against Rochdale in September before signing a new contract – reportedly worth £40,000-a-week – with his boyhood club the following month.
Williams has been with Man United since he was eight years old, having been spotted by a local team playing at the park that backs onto his family home in Manchester.
The youngster is proud of his humble background, growing up in Harpurhey, Manchester, where his parents still live and his mum still runs a café in the local market, which is plastered with newspaper cuttings of her son’s career highlights so far.
He has made 26 appearances in all competitions for United this term, and has been tipped to be the club’s next long-term left-back.
He’ll have to wait for his next match, with players only just returning to training from the coronavirus football hiatus.
But it appears he’s been able to treat his family to the finer things in life during lockdown, including buying his father a brand new motor.
And his dad’s reaction is absolutely brilliant.
After being guided to the front of his house by other family members, Williams is heard shouting ‘happy birthday’ next to the black Mercedes 4×4.
To which his dad replied, dumfounded: “That one? Seriously?! F*****g hell, I’ve gone all shaky!”
As Williams then walks towards with him the keys in his hand, his continued: “Are you joking me? Are you taking the p***?”
“No,” the United ace responds. “Go check it out!”
